Artist Statement
My work is conceptual, centered around the human search for meaning through order, and the arbitrary nature of the order we create. I explore habits of organization that become codified and I look at futile attempts to control chaos, entropy, each other and ourselves.
But mostly, I play. I play with rules in the form of interventions that are often subversive, humorous, and absurd. I play with text, rearranging what is familiar, or placing text where it is unexpected. And I play with the mundane until it becomes surprising.
My mediums run from works on paper with static electricity, to works with traffic cones, campaign signs, and jigsaw puzzles; which is to say, I'll use anything in service of an idea.
